Paper II Guide

Step 1: Beak down the question.
Step 2: Brainstorm! 
           -you can add planning into the paper- rough outline
Step 3: Craft your thesis statement. 
           - Can be 1-2 sentences
           - include the 2-3 categories you will be writing about
           - make sure you address the prompt 
Step 4: Write your essay!

Intro:

  • Context!
    • Country/ person 
    • time frame 
    • thesis that addresses the question (1-2 Sentences) 
  • Clarify any terms 
  • Provide relevant background information
  • End with your thesis 
Body: 
  • 3-5 Paragraphs that SUPPORT YOUR THESIS
  • Write an Analytical essay
    • First sentence: POINT, not fact
Conclusion: 
  • Provide a clear evaluation 
  • Challenge inherent assumptions in the question?
  • historiography (but not just name dropping a historians name) 
  • "So what" sentence
    • what is your topics significance? 
    • Long/ Short term impact?
